The Young Theatre Company is based at The Acorn Theatre in Worksop, North Nottinghamshire. Established over 25 years ago, we have grown to become one of the UK's largest youth theatres, and pride ourselves on being different. We strive to be affordable and accessible to all young people, with top professional tutors delivering high quality tuition and professionally polished productions!
Our hugely popular Theatre Classes are a unique mix of singing, dancing, acting and fun - always geared towards a professional performance on stage! Come and discover just what makes The Young Theatre Company so special!
Our weekly, hour-long theatre classes are an exciting mix of drama, dance, singing and fun. Taught be experienced professionals, children quickly develop their performing skills as they work towards large-scale productions on stage at The Acorn Theatre!
Our professionally polished performances make every pupil and parent proud. We perform two to three shows a year, and with professionally trained and hugely experienced directors at the helm, showtime is always spectacular!
We aim to be accessible to all youngsters, regardless of experience or ability. Part of that is keeping our fees affordable so that everyone can take part. Not only that, our fees include scripts, additional rehearsals, performances AND show costumes!
As you have probably anticipated, now that schools have officially closed we will not be holding our regular theatre classes at The Acorn until further notice. We know the children will be as disappointed as we are to be in this position, but our top priority is everyone’s health and well-being. We will be reopening our classes at the earliest opportunity. Our forthcoming production of “Bricks” has been postponed; the show must go on, as they say, so we will endeavour to perform at a later date, but you will understand that currently we are unable to say when exactly that will be. We will be looking into options for those who have already booked tickets for this production, and will get in touch with you about this over the coming days.
This is difficult time for us all, and our sympathies are particularly with those who will be struggling to make ends meet for the foreseeable future. As a small business, we too have been hit hard, and at the worst possible time: from classes and Spring/Summer productions to our workshops in 11 local schools, all our activities are now suspended. We are so thankful for the support that our YTC parents always show for us and the work we do, and we desperately hope that we can count on this again - most importantly by sending your children back to us when we are able to reopen. Hopefully that day won’t be too far away!
In the meantime we are looking into ways of keeping your children’s theatrical juices flowing and are investigating a variety of online platforms. Watch this space! We send our love and best wishes to all our YTC family, we cannot imagine how we’re going to cope without seeing you all each week but please stay safe and keep in touch!
